Ingredients:-
- Thuvar Dal – 1/3 cup
- Green Mango skinned and coarsely grated – 2 tbsp
- Green chillies slit lengthwise – 2 nos
For the Paste :-
- Jaggery/Gud – small piece
- Grated coconut – 1 tbsp
- Garlic with skin, crushed and fried in oil/ghee – 2 nos
Grind all the ingredients 1-3 to a coarse paste.
For the seasoning:
- Oil- 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds- 1/2tsp
- Curry leaves/ Karibevu – 1 sprig
Method:-
- Pressure cook the dal until soft, with grated mango
- When done, beat the dal lightly. Add salt and a little water if the dal is thick.
- Add the ground paste and bring to a gentle boil and then leave simmering for a few minutes.
- Season with mustard seeds and curry/ karibevu leaves.
- Yummy saar is ready to serve.
Notes:-
The saar should have a consistency of thick soup.
