Cholkia Bhakri (Bhakris in banana leaves)
Cholko means pieces of banana leaf ! and bhakries are thick dosas made from raw rice and coconut paste. Hence cholkia bhakries are the dosas prepared on the banana leaf peices .. But unlike the usual ” thick ” bhakries – these are made thin . The batter is pasted on the banana leaves and then they are roasted on the hot tawa. The charred banana leaves impart a significant aroma to the dosas and make them even more tasty. And on a healthy note ,these bhakries are completely oil free….!!!!! so here goes the recipe of my mother-in- law and the most favourite of her dear son !!!

Ingredients :-
- Raw rice – 2 cups
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Banana leaf cut in to small pieces..
Method :-
- Soak rice for a minimum of 3 hours.
- Now grind it to a smooth paste along with the grated coconut with minimum water.
- The batter should not be too runny or else pasting it on the banana leaves would be tough .
- No need of making too thick also ….
- Now take the banana leaf and apply the batter using a laddle on one leaf.
- Cover it with another piece and keep directly on the hot tawa.
- Roast till they are done…
- They would be ready within a few minutes.
- Serve hot !
Usually we have dalitoy with the bhakries …But this time we loved having with another GSB speciality Soyi bhajjile ghashi…..and they were yummmmm!!!!!
