Ragi Dates Bhakris

Ragi Dates Bhakris  (roasted on banana leaves)
         Bhakris are the thick dosas usually roasted on a hot tawa by using hands only (without using any ladle) . Ragi dates bhakri is a sweet variety of this. The dates and the jaggery added to it gives a nice taste and d banana leaves enhances its aroma . It is a very healthy and tasty traditional snack for kids. I got this recipe from my mother-in -law.
Ingredients;
Ragi  flour   – 2 cups
Coconut grated  -1/4 cup
Melted jaggery     – 3/4 cup
Dates      -10 to 15
Small banana (preferably mysore bananas)  -2

Method :-

  1. Grind coconut and the dates to a smooth paste .
  2. Mix all the ingredients in the jaggery syrup
  3. The consistency of the batter should be thick so that you should be able to paste them on the banana leaves using your hands
  4. Paste it on one side of the banana leaf and close it with the other side
  5. Heat an iron tawa and roast it on both sides till its done.
