Moong Dal usli

1.    Moong dal                 —  1 cup
2.    Green chilly               —  2 to 3
3.    Ginger                        —   small piece
4.    Mustard seeds         —   ½ tsp
5.    Hing                            —   a pinch
6.    Salt to taste
7.    Sugar                          —  ¼  tsp
8.    Grated coconut        —  ¼ cup
9.    Oil                               —   2 tsp
10.      Water                       —   2 ½ cups
11.    Curry leaves few
  •     · Wash moong dal in a bowl and drain the water and keep aside. 
  • ·      Heat oil in kadai, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilly, ginger and pinch of hing  fry for a minute.
  • ·    Add  2 ½ cups of water, salt and sugar and boil, then add washed moong dal cover and cook till the water evaporates and it becomes dry.  
  • ·     Then add grated coconut and mix well. 
  • ·    Serve as it is or with povva chutney.
