 This recipe is from our member Asha Satish Philar  akkas    Konkani Saraswat Cuisine cook bookKadis do not have dals or vegetables and are perhaps unique to saraswat cuisine. They are coconut based and generally use spices which have medicinal value .Kadis are served hot
Ingredients ;-

  •  Avallos / gooseberries – brined or plain- 5 ( chopped & deseeded )
  •  Grated coconut -1/2 cup
  • Red chillies -fried in a litlle  oil – 4
  • Tamarind paste – 1/2 tsp  or karmbhal or bimbul – 1
  • salt to taste 

seasoning – 

3-4 pods of crushed garlic & oil
Method 

  1.  Grind all the ingredients  to a smooth paste .
  2. Add enough water  (about 2-3 cups )to make a thick soup & boil.
  3. Check for salt  
  4. Heat the oil and season with garlic.
  5. Pour it over the Kadi , switch off flame & serve hot.
