Piyava Pathrodo – Onion pathrodo
Might be new one ?? But please dont get mislead by the name ,its our normal pathrodo only ,but we add the onion to the batter. May be slightly out of d way from the normal pathrodo where we add the hing ,but trust me ,adding onion do make the pathrodo super tasty.

Ingredients :-
- Tender colocasia leaves (Alva paan) – 15 to 20
- Raw rice – 1 cup
- Tur dal – 1/2 cup
- Red chillies roasted in little oil – 15 to 20 (you can increase if you like spicy ones)
- Coconut grated – 1 and half cups
- Tamarind – small lemon sized
- Large onion – 1
Method
- Soak rice and dal together for one hour.
- Grind coconut ,red chillies and tamarind adding little water to a smooth paste.
- Add the soaked rice and dal to it and grind all together a bit coarsely ,,take care while adding water not to make it too watery.
- To this batter add finely chopped onion and mix well.
- Add required salt.
- Now devein the leaves wash and keep ready.
- Apply the paste on the back side of the leaf evenly all over.
- Now place another leaf over the first one and repeat the same procedure for almost 6 to 10 leaves..
- Now roll it tightly .
- Steam cook these rolls in a steamer (pedavan) till soft for almost 45 minutes or till it is done.
- Drizzle coconut oil on top of each piece before serving them….. Enjoy the super tasty pathrodo along with rice and dalitoy 🙂
