Phagil Talasani

                            PHAGIL is known as teasel gourd/kantola.This veggie is favourite among Konkani community.It is a seasonal veggie.It has Medicanal properties too.During Gowri Pooja and Ganesh Chathurthi the most common Fry of Phagil is prepared along with other prasads.Though Phagil fry is very popular there are many more recipes which we can prepare with Phagil,they are phagil sasam,Phagil sukke,Phagil Koot and Phagil Talasani.
Today I would like to share the recipe of Phagil Talasani which is a stir fried side dish with rice.

                                                  Phagil Talasani                                                                  

Ingredients:-

  1. Phagil – 5-6
  2. Dry Red chillies – 3-4
  3. Garlic Cloves – 8-10
  4. Oil – 1-2 tsp.
  5. Salt to taste

Method:

  • Wash the phagil in water and remove the stalk on top.Now chop them in to pieces.
  • In a kadai  heat oil …when its hot add crushed garlic pods.
  • When they turn little brown add the dry red chillies broken into pieces.
  • Now fry for a while and then add the chopped gourd and salt
  • .Give it a stir &  close lid and cook till done.In between just give a stir so as to avoid burning.
  • Talasani is ready to serve with rice as a side dish.
