” Chana ambat ” is a simple mild curry prepared from either black chana or with the kabuli chana. It can be served as a main course curry with rice. Along with chana you can also add yam (surnu ) or yellow cucumber in the ambat .

Ingredients :-
1. Chana – 1 cup
2. Yam ( surnu) – 1/2 cup cut in small squares
3. Grated coconut – 1 cup
4. Red chillies – 8 to 10
5. Tamarind – small piece
6. Onion chopped very finely – 1 small
Method:-

Method:-
- Soak chana for 6 hours (or overnight )
- Pressure cook chana and the yam together.
- Roast the red chillies in little oil.
- Grind coconut , roasted red chillies and tamarind smoothly adding sufficient water.
- Add this paste to the cooked chana and adjust the consistency accordingly.
- Let it boil well and then turn off.
- Now in a small pan ,heat little oil and fry the finely chopped onion till it attains golden brown color.
- Pour the tadka over the ambat.
Serve hot with rice !.
