Maskat – Godshe

Godshe /Godsani Maskat is a very traditional amchi dish of GSBs from the Kochi side !! A quickly made  snack this can be had at all times . Being sweet this is a great hit with children when liberally done in ghee !! its flavor & aroma has to be seen to be believed !  So lets get started with  the recipe !
Ingredients :-
  • Wheat Flour / atta –  1 1/2 cups
  •  Grated coconut – 1 full cup  ( adding more adds to the taste  )
  • Jaggery grated – 3/4 cup
  • Ripe bananas – 3
  •  Elaichi – 2  (powdered )
  • Salt – a pinch
  •  Ghee – for greasing tawa
Method :-
  1. Mix all the ingredients  well  (except ghee). Add just a little water to get a  thick batter with which you can spread on the tawa like in the pic below.
  2. Heat a tawa  & when medium hot grease it with ghee (or oil as per your preference. – but ghee only gives it that distinct taste ) then spread a little of the batter with your fingers or spoon – thickly & evenly . add a little more ghee and cover . Let cook on medium / slow flame !
  3. When the bottom side has cooked . flip & cook again
  4. Serve hot when done !!
You may garnish with cut bananas or grated coconut !!
Note :-
You can view how to spread the batter on the tawa in this video –
