Thousali is a traditional dosa prepared adding grated cucumber (thavshe / the ones we use in salads ). You can make both the versions- sweet and savoury. So here is the recipe
Ingredients :-
Ingredients :-
- Raw rice – 2 cups
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Grated cucumber (thavshe) – 1 large or 2 medium sized
Method :-
- Soak raw rice for 3 hours.
- Grind to a smooth paste along with coconut .
- Add sufficient water to make the batter a bit thin.
- Now add grated cucumber to it.
- The batter is ready.
Godi thousali ( sweet version )
- To the batter add grated jaggery and a pinch of salt.
- If your jaggery contains impurities ,then melt it adding little water (no need of making syrup).
- Let the syrup cool down and only then mix it with the batter. In such case ,make sure not to make the batter too thin as soon as you grind it.
- Adjust the consistency only after adding jaggery syrup.
- Start preparing the tasty sweet thousalies ..Roast on both sides.
- Here I have prepared mini thousalies which are the favourite of my kid.You can proceed as normal dosas.
Theeki thousali ( savoury version )
To the same batter, just add finely chopped green chillies and sufficient amount of salt.
Start preparing as normal dosas.
