Tomato sassam

This is the second in the series of rare recipes That I will be posting ! This simple , easy to make but yet so tasty recipe does not need any cooking too. So it’s ideal for a novice to try or when you need a quick dish without any haste . here is the recipe that I got from my friend Chitra Suresh‎ , She  in turn learnt it from her aunt .

Ingredients :- 

  • Tomato – 1
  • Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies – 2 to 3 as per spice level
  • Curry leaves – 3 to 4
  • Mustard – 1/4 tsp
  • Curd – 2 tsps
  • Salt to taste

For Seasoning :- 

  • Mustard -1/2 tsp
  • Jeera – 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 3 to 4
  • Red Chilli – 1
  • Oil for tempering

Method :-

  1. Chop the tomato very finely .
  2. Grind the coconut , chillies ,  curry leaves with the curds to a fine paste . 
  3. Then add the mustard and give it just one round in the mixer . 
  4. Add this paste to the tomatoes . Add salt to taste .
  5. Heat the oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds , Then add the jeera , red chilli and curry leaves .
  6.  When roasted pour the seasoning over the tomatoes and mix well .
  7. You can add more curd to get your desired consistency !
Serve with rice , You can do the same dish with Cucumber too .
