Vodi means sun dried fritters.They are normally prepared during summer season and stored in air tight dabbas. Later they are fried and served as a side dish in a thali as & when needed. We konkanis make vodis, happolu and vodas in large quantity so that they can be used during rainy season when vegetables are not so easily available & lack variety .
Vodis are prepared with rice and flavoured either with garlic or onions, or plain .We have already updated variety of sun dried fritters in this blog.I have updated vodi which is made with leftover rice.Today sharing with you all garlic vodis prepared adding green chillies.

Ingredients :-
- Raw Rice – 1 cup
- Garlic cloves – 8-10 (without removing the outer skin)
- Green chillies – 8 nos
- Salt to taste
- Water for grinding and boiling – 7+1 glass extra
Method:-
- Wash and soak rice for 3-4 hrs (can soak in the morning and grind at night)
- Take 7 cup of water (measure with the same cup used to measure the rice) and keep for heating.(the water need not reach the boiling point)
- With the remaining 1 cup water use 1/2 cup to grind the rice to a smooth paste.Take this paste in a big vessel.
- Grind green chillies and garlic with the skin to a coarse paste separately and add along with the rice paste.
- Use the other leftover half cup water to wash the mixer jar and add that to the ground rice batter itself.
- Switch on the gas and pour the hot water slowly into the ground rice mixture and mix well and cook without forming any lumps.
- When you see the bubbles appearing in the centre of the mixture,keep the flame in sim and cook for about 5 minutes.Switch off.
- The paste may look like a watery paste but need not worry by the time when it cools down it will become thick in texture.
- If we prepare this process in the night,then the next day morning it will be easy for us to spread .
- Next day morning spread a clean white cloth in the floor where we get good sunlight,Take small amounts of the vodi peet and spread on the cloth and sun dry it for two days .
- Remove them carefully and turn them up . keep to dry in sunlight until full dried.

Store them in an air tight container after they have cooled down .
