Bhajille Tamballi

                         Most often we see coconut going rancid for various reasons .  Our elders had a solution to all these problems . Either they used  the coconut to make Soyi bhajjille ghassis , kattalli bhajjille ghassis  or just this quick bhajjille tamballi .This is so tasty – that you can pat yourself for having made a best out of waste item ! Of course you can make this from fresh coconut too ..but see that the coconut is dry & mature .

Ingredients –

  • Grated coconut –  1 cup (fresh or even one that is just started to smell bad)
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Coriander – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilies – 4-5 or more as per taste
  • Tamarind – a  large gooseberry size
  • Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  • Salt to taste
Method;
                      Roast all the ingredients to a golden brown colour .

When cool  grind all the ingredients to a smooth  paste using minimal water . Check for salt . this should be tangy & spicy .

This is best had as a side dish with rice or with polos . This makes an unbeatable combo with just simple pejj ( rice gruel ).
