Phova Pachadi

Phova /poha pachadi is a simple dish prepared as mid morning  or evening snack and served with either bananas or the various dabbe khann (farsaan prepared at home like Shevo/sev,chakkulis,Kodbalos etc). This is usually prepared during festival get-togethers as it is easy and quick to prepare for a large number of people but no rule that cant be prepared on other days. This is even distributed as  ” prasad ” in temples during special poojas and is made very spicy.

Poha Pachadi

Ingredients :

  • 3/4 th -1 cup of grated coconut
  • 2-3 green chillies or as per taste
  • Tbsp of coriander seeds
  • Tsp of sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Poha as required

Method :-

In a pestle and mortar take green chillies, sugar, salt and coriander seeds and slightly crush them.
Add coconut gratings and further crush them nicely so that everything is mixed well and the flavours are infused.Check for seasoning and add if required.
At this stage keep adding poha little by little and mix gently.
The poha pachadi is ready to be served.

Notes:-

  1. If you do not have a mortar and pestle put all together in a mixie jar and pulse it once or twice.
  2. Be careful while adding poha as too much poha will result in dry pachadi..add only as much as the coconut mix holds.
